Blackout

I'm sure most of you guys aware of yesterday's blackout.Well that's not a rare experience for me since i started workin in Bangsar. This blackout incidents sometimes happened once a month or more here. The most ironic fact about it is that the TNB HQ is located here in Bangsar. Yesterday blackout was quite bad, tho not as bad as the one that happened in 97, nonetheless it revealed lots of flaws in TNB operation which according to the guy who gave the press statement (2nd in command if i'm not mistaken) certified by consultant as ROBUST. So much for that...
One of the most important issue beside domestic (i.e the traffic jams, no aircond etc), it also revealed quite a few facts that i didn't know about before. Like the one in KLCC on how some of the ppl workin on the HIGHEST building in the world have to walk down the 63rd floor using the stairs. I dunno if that is standard procedure in all buildings but shouldn't they somehow have a backup power system using generator? As far as i know, the only time it's unsafe to use the elevator is if there's any fire in the building. The same can be said about the report that the water levels in a few water resevoir in Selangor went down to critical level.Again, shouldn't there be any generator to make sure the pump keep on working? Thank God TNB managed to make sure all the sytem running up again in 4 hours. Imagine how it would be like if it took them 12 hours or more to do that if it's in a larger scale incident. The whole of Klang Velley would dried up by then!!! I'm no expert in power management but strategies should be rethink, action should be taken and close watch should be implemented to all these problems...this is not just about TNB failure to make sure everythin workin fine. We should at least have some sort of mechanism that's able to sustain the operation of the vital installations throughout the country in case of incident like this.
